Formerly entered as NS25NW 8002 at cited location NS 2117 5834 (N55 47.11 W4 51.13), and classified as Puffer.

FORTH, steam lighter, wrecked near the Knock, Largs. Recommend sale. £12 accepted.

Registration: Grangemouth. Built 1883. 144grt. Length: 33m. Beam: 5m.

(Location of loss cited as N55 49.00 W4 53.00).

The location assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary. 'Knock Castle, Largs' is presumably to be equated with Castle Hill, Largs (NS25NW 2, at NS 21565 58800). The loss of this vessel may have occurred within the area of map sheet NS25NW.

The classification cited by Whittaker remains unverified, but is accepted.
