Hunter's Lodge [NAT]

OS 1:10,000 map, 1977.

Ruin, dated at top centre SW panel 'In This/Hunter's Lodge/Rob. GIBB/Commands/MDCLXXIX'. Simple rubble-built 2-storey rectangle: SW frontage of three square windows (two above, one below), checked for shutters and chamfered door: NE frontage with two windows at first floor level and blocked door at ground. S angle collapsed. (Rob. Gibb was Charles II's jester).

The building was built by Captain Fraser, who was also responsible for the White Horse hill figure (NJ95NE 6).

SDD List, 1968.

A single unroofed building annotated 'Hunters lodge' is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map Aberdeenshire 1874, sheet vii and on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1977).
