Architecture Notes

Built 1844 as the Free Church of Scotland after the Disruption of 1843. The building passed to the United Free Church in 1905, and the Free Church of Scotland opened their replacement building on Quay Street in 1909 (see NH19SW 37). In 1929 the United Free Church merged with the Church of Scotland, and the congregation from the Telford-designed church on West Argyle Street (NH19SW 50) ultimately joined at this site.

Information from RCAHMS (ITMP), 26 October 2007.
