Archaeology Notes

NH02SE 4 0795 2025

A farmstead comprising seven roofed buildings and one unroofed building is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1875, sheet l). One partially roofed building and three roofed buildings, one of which is labelled as a youth hostel, are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971).

Information from RCAHMS (SAH) 21 May 1996

No trace of the former settlement, depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1875, sheet l), survives around the modern youth hostel. This building is currently being re-furbished and was formerly a bothy for stalkers.
