Archaeology Notes

NS66NE 9 670 654

Nothing survives of this four gun-emplacement battery which was situated on rising ground just N of the Edinburgh Road (A8). The battery mounted four 3.7-inch guns and had an accommodation camp to the E. There is evidence that there may have been earlier gun-emplacements immediately to the W of the later gun positions.

Information from RCAHMS (DE) July 1997.

Recorded by Mr J Guy as part of the Strathclyde Survey.

J Guy 2001; NMRS MS 810/11, Part 3, 233-4
