Srp Note (10 January 2011)

A farmstead and enclosures (NOSAS survey site Nos 217, 218, 219, 220 and 221) centred on NH 4127 5396 are located in the upper reaches of the Allt na Fainich on an E facing slope.

The site comprises a substantial single ‘L’ plan building (217) with evidence for different phases of construction, two enclosures (218 & 219) and several clearance cairns some of which may overlie structures relating to an earlier shileing ground. The site sits amid an extensive area of improved ground which extends either side of the Allt na Fainich.

Further details of these and other associated sites can be found in the Strathconon Phase 1 Report (pages 34-35) produced by the North of Scotland Archaeology Society and appended to this record
