Surveying Details

Hydrographic Office, 1995.

(Classified as steel steamship, with cargo of coal and coke: date of loss cited as 11 November 1912). Deerpark: this vessel stranded one mile South of Kyle Rhea Light.

Registration: Greenock. Built 1901. 928grt. Length: 66m. Beam: 9m.

(Location of loss cited as N57 15.0 W5 39.0).

(Date of loss cited as 16 November 1912. Deerpark (possibly): approximately 1.4 cables E of Cuil a Inheaumain, Bernera Bay.

(Location cited as N57 13.50 W5 38.50).

I G Whittaker 1998.

The equation posited by UKHO is provisionally accepted. Neither Cuil a' Inheaunam nor Bernera Bay is noted as such on the 1998 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map. The latter name presumably applies to the pronounced sand-fringed indentation set into the E (mainland) shore, around NG 806 206.

Kyle Rhea Light (Kylerhea Minor Light: NG72SE 43) is at NG 78905 22220.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 19 August 2008.
