Surveying Details

1917. The ARNEWOOD sank 4 miles ESE from Sleat Point, Skye or 57 01 00N, 005 54 00W, approximately.

9 March 1992. The site was not found during basic sounding. It was not searched for because it was too deep for side scan sonar operations from the boat.

(Classified as steel steamship, with cargo of coal: date of loss cited as 13 December 1917). Arnewood: this vessel was mined 4 miles ESE of Sleat Point [Point of Sleat]. (This is supposed to be a better P[osition] A[pproximate] than that cited.

Registration: London. Built 1916. 2259grt. Length: 87m. Beam: 12m.
