Surveying Details

17 April 1945. A sonar contact was reported at 57 46 12N, 001 57 48W. The vessel's length is 110 feet (33.5 metres), and has a height of 30 feet (9.1 metres).

20 June 1986. The site is known locally as the 'knock wreck'. It was examined on the 11 February 1986 at 57 46 48N, 001 57 11W. The 4 range trisponder gave NGR eastings 402798, northings 876666. Decca (n scot) red d 19.56, green c 46.42, purple f 57.99. The least echosounder depth was 59.2 in a general depth of 73 metres. The side scan sonar confirmed that there were no scour pits. The vessel is lying with its keel orientated 035/215 degrees with the bows to the NE. Its length is about 133.7 metres (436 feet), and its beam is 26.9 metres (88 feet). The wreck has 2 high points and has a build-up of sand against it to south.
