6 April 1959. The obstruction was drift swept clear at 35.3 metres, but fouled at 37.1 metres. The least depth by echosounder was 35.9 metres in a general depth of 48.1 metres. The depth of the scour pit was 0.6 metres.

Horizontal sextant angle fix: Buchan Ness lighthouse 23-40 Coastguard station 52-15 Bear Hill; Buchan Ness lighthouse 20-36 Meet Hill tree 55-18 Bear Hill. The 'hsa' fix gives 57 32 06N, 001 44 07W.
