Surveying Details

-------------------------

1 March 1945. The position from the wreck of the EMPORER is given as approximately 57 12 30N, 001 47 30W [NK 1258 1306].

Hydrographic Office 1995.

(Classified as iron trawler: registration cited as A610, and date of loss as 10 February 1926). Emperor: this vessel was in collision and sank 10-12 miles ExN of Aberdeen (Ocean Prince).

Registration: Aberdeen. Built 1895. 130grt. Length: 28m. Beam: 6m.

(Location of loss cited as N57 12.5 W1 47.5).

I G Whittaker 1998.

The map sheet assigned to this record is essentially tentative, being derived from the unverified location of loss that is cited by Whittaker. The Hydrographic Office record apparently remains unverified, and cites only an approximate location without any demonstrable remains, and indicates a depth of about 55m.

The vessel may have sunk within the quasi-administrative area that is designated as Maritime - City of Aberdeen.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 8 February 2002.
