Fog signal sounding. Wind south east strong to fresh. Heavy ground swell. Fog. Cause of wreck, dense fog. Crew 33, all saved. Cargo iron ore.

2 August 1940. The ZITELLA was stranded 1.5 miles south of Buchan Ness in Long Haven Bay. The vessel lies broadside onto the beach, and is no danger to navigation.
