Surveying Details

-----------------------------

20 February 1973. A new wreck was found during survey at position 54 42 50N, 005 15 54W. The site was swept by side scan and echosounder. The least depth being 140 in 147 metres on smooth sand. The wreck is 80 to 100 feet (24-30 metres) long, and lies with its keel on an orientation of 230/050 degrees. The wreck is possibly the REXMOOR, whose sinking position was given as 2.5 miles ESE. The size is about right, but the position of the REXMOOR is supposed to be good (in Beaufort Dyke and not searched for, so not checked that it is as charted).

Report by HMS FAWN.
