Archaeology Notes

NO01NW 132 0265 1987

For Dupplin Castle (NO 0565 1947) and related buildings and monuments, see NO01NE 22.00.

Situated near the N shore of Pitcairnie Loch, there is a brick building with an asbestos roof, a concrete floor and metal-framed windows. There are machinery plinths in the interior, but no equipment remains in place. There is a possible electricity substation nearby, and the plant may have served to regulate the water level in the loch; it may also have supplied water to the airfield at Findo Gask (NO02SW 31.00), 2km to the NW.

Visited by RCAHMS (RJCM, JRS), 21 November 1995.
