Lead Mine (disused)

OS 6-inch map, 1st ed., (Inverness-shire 1876, sheet xvii)

'This lead mine is situated about 10 cahains N of "loch na Meine" from where a lade conducts the nessary supply of water for working ore etc. The mine has not been worked for some years and the stamping mill, water mill etc. are falling into decay. The mine consists of an adit driven a short distance along the vein of ore and the remains of a smelting hearth exist a short distance from the mine. It belongs to Lord Lovat, Beaufort Castle.'

Name Book 1876.

The mine, comprising two unroofed buildings, a chimney, a system of dams and lades is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1876, sheet xvii) and on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971).
