Defending the Clyde

This project, which was largely undertaken in 2016, identified military sites associated with the defence of the River Clyde and its estuary in the first part of the 20th century. Large coastal gun batteries at Ardhallow, Portkil and Toward Point in Argyll, and Cloch Point in Inverclyde, were recorded in detail using both the results of field survey and information contained within contemporary War Department documentation.
