Age of Bronze
Cladh Hallan prehistoric village - Machair, South Uist
Cladh Hallan is one of only a handful of places in Britain where prehistoric mummies have been found, and provides a fascinating insight into Bronze Age life on South Uist. Excavations in the late 20th century uncovered three Bronze Age Roundhouses, built closely together in a form of terrace, and revealed an amazing secret hidden below.
Delfour ring cairn and stone circle - Alvie, Highland
There is a double ring of stones in a farmer's field on the west side of the Spey valley, about 4 miles south-west of Aviemore. They measure about 18m in diameter overall and there is a single tall standing stone to their south-west which seems to guard them. In fact, they are all components of a single monument, one of many found throughout Speyside, Easter Ross and Moray.
