Scotland's role in the First World War was vital to the British Empire's defeat of the Central Powers. A project to examine the remains of that conflict has just been completed by RCAHMS and Historic Scotland. For the first time a list of First World War sites all across Scotland reveals the role the nation played in the defence of the British Isles. This gallery brings together digital images from the RCAHMS collections demonstrating the wealth of sites and quality of some of the remains, which can still be seen today.
