Stirling in the HES Archive

25/09/2017

The HES archive includes a wealth of material illustrating Stirling and the surrounding area. We have selected our favourite images of Stirling in this gallery including aerial photographs from 1928-2017; photographs of Broad Street prior to demolition in 1926; modern survey photographs of buildings by HES; historic photographs and engravings; industrial survey photographs from the 1970s; architects drawings, including a competition design for the Wallace Monument by Peddie and Kinnear from c1859; and photographs and drawings of the Stirling Heads.

The archive can be consulted in our Search Room and through our online resources. This includes Canmore where new images and information are added every day through ongoing surveys of Scotland's built heritage, as well as through an active digitisation programme of negatives, prints and drawings.
