At least eight roundhouses, possibly of Neolithic date, have been recorded as cropmarks on oblique aerial photographs (RCAHMSAP 1995) some 150m NE of Chapelton. The roundhouses form a row and extend across a distance of about 190m. Seven comprise close-set pits arranged in a circle measuring between 11m and 16m in diameter, each containing a square arrangement of four large pits, while another is represented only by a setting of four posts. A number of large pits are scattered round about.
