The Margaret Street drill hall was in use by the time of the 1904 2nd edition Ordnance Survey 1:2500 map. It has been partially demolished but the drill hall remains on the SW side and is in use as a public hall and theatre space.

In 1914 it was the base for "H" Squadron, 2nd Lovat's Scouts and HQ and base for a battery of Inverness Royal Horse Artillery.

Information from HS/RCAHMS World War One Audit Project (GJB) 19 July 2013.
