Copper alloy ring (annular) brooch found by metal-detecting. Tiny, and missing its pin.
The brooch was cast as a blank, and then decorated with paired incised lines each side of the pin rebate and every 90 degrees of the body. In terms of style and appearance it compares to European rather than indigenous styles, and dates to the 13th/14th century. The decoration can be paralleled on similar finds from Easter Ross down through into Aberdeenshire and Angus, and probably represents a regional style.
