This saw mill is depicted and named on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map 25-inch map (Edinburghshire, 1896, sheet 3.03). Cranes (possibly hand-operated) are depicted at NT25286 75224 and NT25294 75194. The site is adjacent to the railway siding leading to the Heriot Hill Mineral Depot (NT27NE 1670).
