Hannah and Proudfoot 1994
Nothing is visible of this building, which stood on the E bank of the Greenan Burn about 50m SW of Quogach farmsteading (NS06SE 399). Its site lies in an improved field that has been used as a dump and has been heavily disturbed by vehicles and cattle. The building is depicted here on two 18th century estate maps (Foulis 1758-9; May 1780-82), the latter showing it standing on the SE side of a small enclosure. The 1st edition of the 6-inch map (Buteshire 1869, Sheet CCIV) depicts what is probably the same building roofed, but it appears to have been removed by the end of the 19th century and is not shown on the 2nd edition of the map (1897, Sheet CCIV.SW).
Visited by RCAHMS (GFG, JMH) 7 May 2009.
