NB32SE 8001 c. 398 214

N58 6.3 W6 25.0

NLO: Cromor [name centre NB 401 212]

Loch Eireasort [name centred NB 34 20].

(Classified as Steam Drifter: date of loss cited as 10 October 1931). Aurora: this vessel stranded from anchor at Cromore [Cromor] Bay, Loch Erisort [Eireasort], and [was] expected [to become a] wreck.

Registration: Stornoway. Built 1906. 74grt.

(Location of loss cited as N58 6.33 W6 25.0).

I G Whittaker 1998.

The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative, being derived from the unverified location of loss that is cited by Whittaker. Cromor or Cromore Bay is not noted as such on the 1997 edition of the OS 1:50,000 map, but the name presumably applies to the pronounced bay to the W of Cromor village, and in front of it.

Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 6 October 2008.
