This unit of the five-strong Gossamer class of Torpedo Gunboats was built at Chatham Dockyard, being undocked on 31 May 1889. She was converted for service as a minesweeper in 1909, and sank in collision in the Firth of Clyde on 30 September 1918.

The map sheet and quasi-administrative area assigned to this record are essentially arbitrary, being derived from the unverified location of loss that is cited by Whittaker. The vessel is classified as a minesweeper on account of the apparent nature of her secondary service at the date of loss.
