A Civil Starfish (SF) decoy site has been identified from vertical air photographs (106G/Scot/UK 119, Pt.II, 5152-5153, flown 20 June 1946), situated on the northern part of the Braid Hills within the Golf Course.

The site is visible as at least three small sub-rectangular enclosures with shallow ditches around them, a common feature of Starfish sites. The sites where set alight from a remote control point and were trying to replicate the burning and bombed streets of a town to fool enemy aircraft into dropping bombs on the decoy rather than the target.

No evidence for the control bunker could be seen on the photographs.

Information from RCAHMS (DE, KM), November 2005.
