This sand-pit, which is situated immediately NW of Bridgend steading (NJ72NW 183), has been filled in and planted with conifers As depicted on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire, 1870, sheet xlv and 1901, sheet xlv.SW respectively), it measured about 60m from ENE to WSW by 50m transversely.
