Balbegno Castle built in 1569, on a slightly modified L-plan. Alterations in the 17th, 18th and 19th century's included the addition of a farmhouse on the NE. The building is of special architectural interest for the ribbed and groined vaulting over the hall. The dovecot is 17th century pitch-roofed, with crow-steps.

Balbegno Castle, as described by MacGibbon and Ross, is now unoccupied, but the farmhouse (NO67SW 30) on the NE is still in use.

The dovecot is rectangular, measuring 5.7m by 5.0m overall with a wall 0.7m thick and has one string-course. The nesting boxes have been removed.
