A type 27 pillbox has been identified from post-war RAF vertical air photographs (106G/Scot/UK 119, Pt.I, 5026-7, flown 20 June 1946) about 170m W of the main hangar (NT17SE 70.04). The pillbox was subsequently demolished during the post-war alterations of RAF Turnhouse to a civilian airport.
