A type 27 pillbox has been identified from post-war RAF vertical air photographs (106G/Scot/UK 119, Pt.I, 5026-7, flown 20 June 1946) about 50m SW of the Cammo Road railway bridge on the N side of the road. The pillbox has been removed during the post-war period, and nothing survives above ground. A gap in the hedge may signify where this pillbox was sited.

Information from RCAHMS (DE) and visited by D Easton, December 2001
