This aqueduct, constructed in 1987, has been re-named the Scott Russell Aqueduct in honour of the engineer and naval architect who undertook experiments on the canal in the 19th century, which led to the pioneering of the wave-line principle of constructing ships.

The 170 foot (56m) high aqueduct straddles the Edinburgh city bypass.

H Brown 1997.

This aqueduct is clearly marked on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1989) and on the OS 1:10000 raster map (ND).

Information from RCAHMS (MD) 8 February 2001.
