Cropmarks have revealed elements of what may be the NNW terminal and sides of a pit-defined cursus in the fields at a bend of the Cairn Water to the NW of Kirkland Station (NX88NW 42.01). The terminal lies to the N of a minor public road and is defined by a curvilinear arrangement of pits; this appears to extend to the S of the road by another line of pits forming the WSW side of the cursus. A roughly parallel alignment of pits visible further S in this field probably belongs to the ENE side of the cursus, but there is also an alignment of about seven pits running obliquely across its axis.

The cursus monument is plotted on a distribution map of Neolithic monuments covering southern Scotland.
