A heavy anti-aircraft battery has been recorded by J Guy (Guy 1992) on the E slope of the Braid Hills some 250m SW of Liberton House (NT26NE 9).

It is depicted on the latest edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1992) with immediately to the NW, the area that was scarped for the GL mat (gun laying radar with 'chicken' wire between posts), which can still be identified on the map. The site is also shown on vertical air photographs (visible on RAF 106G/Scot/UK119 part II, 5512-5514, flown 1946) with an accomodation camp of some 18 huts to the SW.

This well preserved heavy anti-aircraft battery is situated in fields to the NW of the TA Centre near Liberton Kennels.

Consisting of four gun emplacements with magazine and command post with the accommodation camp, now used by Liberton Kennels, to the W. The area of the gun emplacements is now used for keeping horses.

During the Second World War the battery was given a site code of EDG 2 and mounted four 3.7-inch guns.
