16 May 1984. An uncharted obstruction was reported in a position bearing 211 degrees, 10.4 miles from Sumburgh head. The obstruction was found when towing the oil rig DYVI OMEGA on 23 March 1984, when the obstruction was fouled and the tow-wire parted.

Note: The catenary of the tow was 35 to 40 metres.

22 January 1985. An area of 30 square miles was searched, using echosounder and side scan sonar, with no indication of this reported obstruction.

The obstruction was inserted in 59 42.4N, 01 26.9W [OSGB 1936] by NM 1450/84.
