Shepherds' Cairn [NAT]

One of six "shepherd's cairns" recorded in the area in 1994 by CFA during an environmental assessment for a proposed windfarm site (others recorded on NT05SE 6, NT05SE 7, NT05SE 9, NT05SE 10 ). They are composed of stacked piles of large stones measuring up to 2m across and 1m high. None is indicated on the first edition OS coverage of 1864, although some are present on the second edition OS coverage of 1912, suggesting that these monuments are of no great antiquity.
