This tile works comprises a mound, several shallow depressions (possibly clay-pits), and a building. Only faint traces of a long building and the adjacent kiln, which are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map, could be identified at the date of survey (Lanarkshire 1864, sheet iv). However, a building to the SE of the kiln which is depicted as roofed on the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS map and the revised edition (Lanarkshire 1864, 1899 and 1922 (resurveyed 1910), sheet iv), was located, and measures 12.3m from ENE to WSW by 7.1m transversely over mortared-rubble walls, 0.6m thick, standing to 0.4m in height, with an entrance in the SSE and a robbed NNW wall. The building is called 'Auchengray Cottage' on the 2nd edition of the OS map (ibid) and a trackway, which also depicted on the early editions of the OS map (ibid), leads off to the WSW.
