Volunteer Artllery Battery [NAT]

OS 6-inch map, 1st ed, c. 1863 [GIS].

The first edition of the OS 6-inch map depicts embrasures facing roughly NE, out to sea, on the promontory at Bogany Point.

Wilson notes that the battery 'was erected at the close of the last [18th] century when we were threatened with a French invasion, and is mounted with several pieces of cannon, 18 pounders.'
