(NY 0030 8151) Mote (NR)

OS 6" map (1948)

Mote, Tinwald - a truncated cone, some 9 feet to 10 feet in elevation, with an oval summit measuring 62 feet by 36 feet. The slope of the mound is by no means steep, and the whole construction has probably been reduced by cultivation. It is probably a natural gravel hillock, the levelled summit being the only really significant feature remaining.

RCAHMS 1920, visited 1912

Motte

R W Feachem 1956

Generally as described by RCAHMS, but now further reduced and spread so that the level area on the summit is only some 17.0m x 10.0m and the maximum height of the mound is 2.5m.

Revised at 25".

Visited by OS (RDL) 11 December 1963
