NX55NW 24 5291 5722

(NX 5290 5721) Immediately S of the cairn NX55NW 9, and with the nearest stone 30' from it, are two stones, 30' apart, which may be the last remnants of a stone circle. The stones are thin slabs, apparently placed with their broad faces at right angles to the line of the circumference. One stone is upright while the other is much tilted and sunk in the peat.

NX 5290 5723. A stone setting comprising two substantial earthfast stones 10.6m apart; the northernmost upright stone is 0.3m high and 0.4m broad, the other is almost recumbent and covered by the peat.

There is now no evidence to suggest that these stones were ever part of a stone circle; it seems more likely that they may have been an alignment. They do not however lie on a line between the centres of the cairns (NX55NW 9 and NX55NW 22) as indicated by Coles.
