'Long Tom' is a standing stone measuring 6' high and 2' 2" in each direction at base, diminishing to an edge at the top.

NX 08137181 A standing stone as described. Its dimensions are 0.7m by 0.7m at the base and 1.7m high. It was not possible to confirm the name locally.

Thom states that this standing stone was of significance for lunar observations. However, this is disputed by Ruggles.

This standing stone is situated on Loan Hill 400m S of the Wigtown District boundary and 110m NW of the Glen Burn; it measures 0.65m by 0.7m at the base by 1.7m in height. About 0.5m above the ground on the SW face there is a shallow cupmark (40mm x 10mm in depth) and below it, near the bottom of the stone, there are a further four hollows (20mm by 6mm in depth), which may be artificial.
