NW95NE 21 9927 5533.

This standing stone is situated 35m SSW of Glen Cottage, on the level ground between the cottage and a steep-sided promontory known as the Islay Knoll. It is a rounded granite pillar measuring 1.25m in height by a maximum of 0.6m by 0.4m at the base; immediately above the base the stone contracts to a thickness of only 0.25m, expanding gradually back to 0.4m just below its rounded top.

The stone is not depicted on the first edition of the OS 6-inch map (Wigtownshire, 1849, sheet 21), but there is no local knowledge of it being erected at a relatively recent date.

RCAHMS 1985, visited (SH) August 1984
