(NT 8462 2730)

Scooped Enclosure (Site), Shielknowe Burn. On the S side of the track leading from the Halter Burn to the Border, 125 yds E of the crossing of the Shielknowe Burn.

RCAHMS 1956, visited 4 April 1950.

At NT 8462 2730 are the mutilated remains of a scooped enclosure, probably a homestead. The scarp forming the back or NE side is 1.6m high and falls over an upper court area, the terrace of which is badly cut by drainage.

Abutting the enclosure on the SW side are the poorly preserved remains of a second, also badly cut by drainage, the south side being no longer distinguishable.

Surveyed at 1/2500.

Visited by OS(EGC) 6 December 1967.
