Preston Bridge [NAT]

(Location cited as NT 787 568). Preston Bridge, built 1770. A handsome 3-span bridge, with dressed-stone arch rings and rubble spandrels, and buttressed wing walls. The central segmental arch is larger than the other two. There are a dentilated [denticulated] cornice and oculi in the spandrels between the arches.

This bridge carries the A6112 public road over the Whiteadder Water to the S of Preston village (NT75NE 50). The river here forms the boundary between the parishes of Duns (to the E) and Bunkle and Preston (to the W).

The location cited defines the centre of the structure.
