This archaeological landscape, which occupies the NE spur of Steel Knowe, comprises a tower, two turf buildings, a stock enclosure, a pen, rig and a system of boundary banks. Centred on Northbank Tower and its adjacent structures (NT60NE 9.01), the rough pasture on all sides is covered with rig, which is delimited on the S by boundary banks or head-dykes with external ditches (NT60NE 9.02). The boundary banks are inter-related with those on the E side of Jordan Sike (NT60NE 38). At the extreme N end of the rig is a building (NT60NE 9.03) and a pen overlies the rig near the Windy Cleuch (NT60NE 9.02).
