(NS 4573 9180) Saintmaha Well (NAT)

OS 6" map, Stirling, 2nd ed., (1923)

St Maha's Well is situated some 350yds SSW of Muirpark. The well-head is of horse-shoe shape, measures 2ft by 3ft internally and stands about 1ft above the surface of the water. A few yards to the NE are vestiges of a similar structure, now turfed over, possibly the remains of an earlier well-head. The well was considered to have healing properties. RCAHMS 1963.

St Maha's Well is stone built and as described above. The turf-covered horse-shoe shaped mound, 8.0m to the NE, measures 3 by 4.0m, and is 1.0m high. A quantity of stones is visible in the sides.

Visited by OS (D S) 2 April 1957.
