NS 448 262 (R W B Morris 1967). A cist containing a food vessel filled with burnt bones was found when digging a gravel pit at Coilsfield. The cover-stone, which measured about 5ft by 2 1/2ft was sculptured with cup and ring marks, spirals etc. A drawing of it was presented to the Royal Society of Edinburgh by Col. Hugh Montgomery of Shielmorly in 1785,and subsequently transferred to the Society of Antiquaries. The present location of the food vessel and cist cover is unknown.
