Two installations relating to Montrose Airfield (NO75NW 31.00), possibly the remote reserve and radio beacon are visible on RAF WW II vertical air photographs (A 309 5272-5273, flown 9 July 1941), which show both are situated within fenced enclosures. A cable trench is visible running between the two installations and on to other small buildings to the N.

The structure at NO 73288 61696 is still extant, whilst the second would appear to have been demolished.
