A large number of platforms are situated in an area of ground bounded on the N by the burn of Tobar a' Ghaill, on the W by the 300ft contour (approximately), on the S by a turf dyke that runs down to the sea at a point 200yds N of Skipness pier, and on the E by the cliffs.

A Graham 1919.

The area within the km N of Skipness pier was investigated in an attempt to locate the platforms mentioned by Graham. Fifteen were found, between the 10m and 70m contour. They were graded in size; some were visibly stone fronted and the others apparently earth banked.

E B Rennie 1988.

NR 919 605 Site identified as part of a coastal zone assessment survey.

M Cressey, S Badger, 2005.
