'Said to have been, in ancient times, used as a camp, and it seems to have been protected on the land side by a deep ditch, now partially filled in. There is no trace of castle or other edifice now existing'.

Name Book 1865.

No trace of an earthwork can be seen on a once-cultivated natural promontory, overlooked on the landward side by higher ground.

Visited by OS (R D) 23 July 1965.

There are no visible remains of the 'camp' which is said to have occupied this coastal promontory.
